Flow activated releasable overshot engages and retrieves cylindrical fish with standard and nonstandard neck from the well bore.

Design

The rugged design of the tool enables 360° catch of the fish. The tool is run in the hole until it latches on the fish and pulled out of hole. Pulling up will cause the slips to set into the fish.
Should the fish be irretrievable, the tool can be released from the fish by flow activation and retrieved back to the surface.
The tools is driven by flow and doesn’t require shear pins, or ball drop, since tool release is activated by pressure differential from circulation through choke in the core of the tool.
